Nelson Aguila, D.V.M., is a Program Director in the Diversity Training Branch (formerly the Comprehensive Minority Biomedical Branch) at the Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities. He oversees funding mechanisms such as Predoctoral Fellowships, and the Minority Institution/ Cancer Center Partnership program and is involved in trans-NCI and trans-NIH activities.
Dr. Aguila came to the CRCHD in 2001 from the Food and Drug Administration, where he worked as a Reviewer Toxicologist in the Center for Veterinary Medicine. Prior to the FDA, Dr. Aguila worked as the Senior Research Scientist in cancer gene therapy at Aventis-Gencell and as a Scientist in the Division of Neuropathology, University of Miami.
Dr. Aguila is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Chile and trained as neurobiologist at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas. He has over 40 scientific publications.
