CRCHD attended the 3rd Annual AACR Conference on the Science of Cancer Health Disparities in racial/ethnic minorities and the medically underserved on September 30-October 3, 2010, at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel in Miami, FL. The conference addresssed all levels of basic, population, clinical, and transdisciplinary research related to cancer. Click here for the agenda.

Sanya A. Springfield, Ph.D., Director of the Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities at the National Cancer Institute spoke with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) about advances and needs in cancer health disparities research. Dr. Springfield also served on the program committee for the conference.

CRCHD organized a plenary session "Global Cancer Research and Training: Collaborating Internationally to Improve Health Outcomes" which co-chaired by Drs. Silvia Franceschi and Serigne Gueye. View this podcast in which Dr. Franceschi discusses global health disparities and the incidence and burden of cancer in economically disadvantaged countries.

Diversity Training Branch Chief Dr. Alexis Bakos, and Program Directors Drs. Nelson Aguila and Carmen Moten held a forum on the CURE Program and training opportunities in cancer and cancer health disparities research. The session featured key steps for successful careers in cancer research and new training opportunities, as well as a stimulating question and answer session with current and prospective trainees and other attendees.
