  • MICR at the AACR 102nd Annual Meeting 2011

    AACR 102nd Annual Meeting 2011

    The 102nd Annual AACR Annual Meeting was held on April 2-6, 2011, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. CRCHD attended the meeting in support of its long-standing partnership with the American Association for Cancer Research and Minorities in Cancer Research (AACR-MICR). AACR-MICR commits to preventing and treating cancer in diverse populations, as well as advancing the professional needs and careers of minority scientists. Click here for the agenda of MICR events.

  • CRCHD IOD Staff Meet and Greet

    Drs. Deborah Duran, Mary Ann Van Duyn, Rina Das, Nelson Aguila, and Emmanuel Taylor represented staff from the National Cancer Institute Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities Immediate Office of the Director and participated in a discussion with trainees and grantees as a part of the MICR activity itinerary.

  • CRCHD at the 2011 Professional Advancement Roundtable

    Drs. Carmen Moten and John Ojeifo participated in the Professional Advancement Reception and Roundtable as a part of MICR activities at the AACR 102nd Annual Meeting. Their table presented on Grantmanship for New and Early Stage Investigators. CRCHD has a wide range of funding opportunities for all trainees along the cancer research career track.   • NCI Director Dr. Harold Varmus Speaks at AACR

    NCI participated in many venues at the AACR 102nd Annual Meeting. Dr. Harold E. Varmus addressed AACR attendees at the Opening Plenary Session, "The Future of Cancer Research: Challenges and Opportunities". The short presentation titled "New Directions in Cancer Research" is available as a webcast in both audio and video formats.

  • Dr. Levi Garraway and Dr. Rina Pasick Co-Chair MICR Forum

    Dr. Levi Garraway, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and a former CURE K08 recipient, served with Dr. Rena Pasick as co-chair of the AACR-MICR Forum, "The Long Haul: Building a Sustainable Research Career". The webcast is available here for paid users only. Dr. Levi Garraway is the in-coming MICR Council Chair for the 2012 Annual Meeting.

  • Jane Cooke Wright Lectureship Winner

    AACR-Minorities in Cancer Research awarded their Sixth Annual Jane Cooke Wright Lectureship to Guillermina Lozano, Ph.D., Chair of Genetics at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.

  • AACR Media Applications Featured at Annual Meeting
