Dr. Dobs is the Director of the Johns Hopkins Clinical Research Network (a collaboration of academic medical centers and community hospitals throughout the mid-Atlantic states), Vice-Chair for Faculty Development in the Department of Medicine, Director of the Johns Hopkins- San Yat-Sen University (China) Collaboration, and have served on several national medical societies, NIH committees and FDA-advisory boards. These roles provide opportunities for collaboration throughout Johns Hopkins Medicine Institutions.

Her personal research interest has focused on metabolic and hormonal abnormalities, and how they relate to chronic disease and cancers. As a trained epidemiologist, Dr. Dobs has led multiple clinical research projects funded by both NIH and industry. Her expertise is in epidemiologic, patient-oriented and clinical trials research. Dr. Dobs has published extensively in areas pertaining to diabetes, anabolic and metabolic hormone abnormalities in cancers, cardiovascular risk factors, diseases of aging, and metabolic abnormalities in HIV and drug abusing populations. Her group has made several crucial observations about health disparities in men, related to androgen deficiencies related to HIV, drug use and atherosclerosis. Dr. Dobs has extensive regulatory expertise, and is an active mentor of trainees.
