Dr. Karen Hubbard is an Associate Professor of Molecular Biology in the Department of Biology at City College of New York. She teaches graduate and undergraduate level courses and is the faculty advisor for the Journal of Student Research. She received the year 2000 Outstanding Woman Scientist Award from the New York Chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS). She was also honored recently for her work and mentoring at AWIS' annual awards ceremony at the New York Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Hubbard studies gene expression during cellular aging. Her research focuses on RNA metabolism during aging and the relationship between cell death (apoptosis) and aging.
Dr. Hubbard received her Ph.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL. Before joining The City College of New York, she served as a Research Assistant Professor at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.
