Maryland Special Populations Cancer Network

The objectives of the Maryland Special Populations Cancer Research Network were to build infrastructure and partnerships for fostering cancer awareness, enhance minority participation in clinical trials, provide training for minority researchers, and foster collaboration between academia and community organizations. The project's target populations included urban African Americans and rural underserved populations throughout Maryland. Strategies used included church-based programs, training of lay health workers, and a variety of print and broadcast media activities.
